THE PRACTICE

Our Practice

Wilmington Speech Associates is a private practice located in beautiful Wilmington, NC.  Our staff have lived and provided speech-language pathology services in Wilmington and Leland as well as New Hanover, Brunswick and Pender counties for more than 13 years.  We pride ourselves in making our patients' needs our first priority.  We work closely with families, caregivers, and pediatricians to develop comprehensive care plans that effectively diagnose and treat a variety of pediatric speech and language delays and disorders. 

Our Staff
Melissa L. Brooks, MA CCC-SLP

Melissa is the owner of Wilmington Speech Associates. She received her undergraduate degree in Communications from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Go Heels! Melissa holds a Master of Arts degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Appalachian State University. She has practiced speech-language pathology since 2005, working with a variety of pediatric speech/language disorders and has owned a private practice since 2008.  She has her Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), and is licensed by the North Carolina Board of Examiners. Melissa is married and and has two sweet kiddos that keep her busy.

Sherri Schultz, BS SLP-Assistant
A Virginia native, Sherri graduated from Old Dominion University with a BS
in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology. She received a minor in
Special Education.  Sherri moved to NC in 2008 and graduated from the
SLP-Assistant program at Fayetteville Community college in 2012. When
She is not at work, she enjoys reading, spending time with her family at the
beach, gardening and traveling. Sherri is married and the proud mom of
two sweet children and two dogs who keep her very busy.

Beth Batts, MA CCC-SLP

Beth received her bachelor's degree in Psychology from Berry College in Rome, Georgia, in 2003. She received her Master of Arts in Audiology and Speech Pathology from The University of Memphis in 2006. Beth grew up in a little town in Alabama called Dothan, but has made Leland, NC, her home now for the past 10 years. She has her Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and is licensed by the North Carolina Board of Examiners. Beth has three young children who she enjoys spending her time with and who keep her on her toes.
